چکیده

Addressing the increasing demand for high-efficiency and high-power-density converters, flying-capacitor multilevel converter has shown itself as a promising topology. A key advantage of this topology is reduced voltage rating switches, though also makes it vulnerable to device failure during short-circuit conditions. Despite large interest in fault-tolerant operation these alongside detailed descriptions balancing, little research focused on fault analysis, which may cause switch if not properly designed for. Therefore, article presents comprehensive model describing large-signal switching behavior general N-level converter. Highly simplified models used predict evolution current stress are proposed, targeted at practicing engineers conservative design guidelines. These determine critical time remedial action before reaching some predefined maximum 2-to-10-level fully configurable circuit hardware prototype experimentally perform different tests that show good match measured behavior.

A Comprehensive Mathematical Model for Analysis of WR-Resolvers under Stator Short Circuit Fault

Wound-Rotor (WR) resolvers are the most widely used position sensors in applications with harsh environmental conditions. However, their performance is exposed to failure due to the high risk of short circuit (SC) fault. Although the output current of the resolver is negligible, its thin copper wires increase the probability of the short circuit fault. To avoid the propagation of the turn-to-tu...

Flying capacitor multilevel PWM converter based UPFC

A unified power flow controller (UPFC) based on the flying capacitor (FC) multilevel voltage-source converter (VSC) topology with phase-shifted sinusoidal pulse-width modulation (PWM) control is presented. This converter allows higher power handling, potentially lower power loss, lower harmonic distortion and hence less filtering requirements when compared with the typical two-level counterppar...

Comparative Analysis of Flying Capacitor and Cascaded Multilevel Inverter Topologies using SPWM

Multilevel inverters have several advantages over the conventional two level inverters due to their lower switching frequency, reduced switching stresses, low EMI and EMC issues, ability to achieve high voltage levels, low THD etc. Multilevel inverters can synthesize the desired voltage from several levels of DC voltages. This paper presents the comparison of three level Flying capacitor and Ca...
